Download & Install
Follow the steps below carefully to install and launch MapleStory Classic successfully.

📄 Step 1 — Install Required Programs
Before downloading the game, make sure you have both of these installed:

DirectX End-User Runtime Web Installer
Installs legacy DirectX components that older games require to run.

WinRAR
Required to extract the downloaded game archive.
⬇ Step 2 — Download the Client
Click the button below to download the latest MapleStory Classic client.
⬇ Download Full Client (~1.5 GB)📦 Step 3 — Extract the Client

Right-click the downloaded archive

Select Extract Here or Extract to ClassicStory using WinRAR

Extract to a folder on your Desktop or in your Games folder
⚠️ Important: Do NOT launch the game yet. Complete all steps first.
🛡️ Step 4 — Add Game to Windows Security Exclusions
Windows Defender may mistakenly block the game. Exclude it before launching:

Open Windows Security

Go to Virus & threat protection

Click Manage settings

Scroll to Exclusions then click Add or remove exclusions

Click Add an exclusion then File

Browse to your extracted MapleStory Classic folder and select ClassicStory.exe
⚙️ Step 5 — Configure Compatibility Settings

Right-click ClassicStory.exe and select Properties

Open the Compatibility tab

Check Run this program as an administrator

Check Run this program in compatibility mode for: Windows XP (Service Pack 3)

Click Apply then OK
🆕 Step 6 — Launch the Game
After completing all steps, double-click ClassicStory.exe. MapleStory Classic should launch and you are ready to play!
🛠 Troubleshooting
If the game still does not start:
✓
Verify that DirectX End-User Runtime installed successfully.
✓
Confirm ClassicStory.exe is still listed under Windows Security exclusions.
✓
Make sure compatibility is set to Windows XP (SP3) and Run as Administrator is checked.
✓
Ensure the game was fully extracted and is not being run directly from inside the archive.
✓
If Defender quarantined any files, restore them and re-add the exclusion before launching.
